Vera Frances Caldwell

Vera Frances Caldwell was born Nov.28, 1923 in Smithton, Missouri to Verner and Sylvia Carpenter and died peacefully on Jan. 6, 2016 in Midlothian, Texas. 

She graduated from Aurora High School in California, Missouri and attended Central Methodist College in Fayette, Missouri. She worked for the Missouri State Highway Patrol for over ten years. On Dec. 14, 1952 she married Robert L. Caldwell, a dispatcher with the Missouri Pacific Railroad. The Caldwell family resided in Palestine between 1965 and 1999. In retirement the couple moved to a home at Cedar Creek Lake, where they were members of the Payne Springs United Methodist Church in Payne Springs, Texas. Ms. Caldwell was a lifelong member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a music lover, avid reader, and intrepid bridge player.

Vera Caldwell is survived by her son David Robert Caldwell of Greeley, Colorado, her daughter Janice Lynne Johnson of Midlothian, Texas, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Her husband Robert and youngest daughter Martha Ann Hall preceded her in death in 2010 and 2011, respectively.

The final resting place for cremains will be Smithton Cemetery in Smithton, Missouri.
