Services for Rev. Melvin H. “Bud” Peters, 82 of Tyler, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Jackson’s Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home with Rev. Sherman Mayfield and Rev. Lance Lewis officiating. Masonic Rites will be performed by Masonic Lodge # 1233. He will be laid to rest at Flint Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Melvin, more affectionately, known as Bud, went to meet his Lord and Savior on Friday, January 15, 2016. He was born May 29, 1933 in Cooptown, Maryland to the late Jackson Hugh and Sue Elizabeth Beamer Peters. Bud Peters was a Godly man who brought joy to all. For 37 years of his wonderful, spiritual life, he preached at several churches, inspiring and bringing many to God. He had many passions. To name a few; carpentry, hunting, fishing, and golfing. Most of all, he loved to spend time with his loved ones. He was a devoted man of God, and lived his life to the fullest.He was preceded in death by two sisters, Alice Sandusky and Ethel Sulser. Survivors include his loving family, Wife, Pauline Peters of Tyler; two sons and daughters-in-law, Buddy and Cyndy Peters of Lindale and Butch and Linda Peters of Hide-A-Way; two daughters and sons-in-law, RoseMary and Melvin “Jr” Steel of Chapel Hill and Cindy and Mike Tindall of Atoka, Tennessee; a brother, Jack Peters of Columbia, MD; four sisters, Kathy Thompson of Jarrettsville, MD, Dolly McGuire of Bel Air, MD, Linda Jaffe of Churchville, MD and Nancy Putnum of Street, MD; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.Thefamily request in lieu of flowers, Memorials be made to The Hospice of East Texas Foundation, 4111 University Blvd., Tyler, Texas 75701.
