Neta Dees Nolen, 81, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2015, in Georgetown, Texas.
She was born in Greenville, Texas, on Feb. 1, 1934, to Neta and Marion Dees. She was a member of Gateway Church and an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Euless for more than 40 years.
Neta was a Marine Corps military wife. After her husband, Joel Douglas Nolen’s retirement in 1970, they settled in Euless to raise their children. In 2010 she moved to Austin. She was a wonderful mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother. Neta touched everyone she met with her grace, beauty, and kindness.
Neta was preceded in death by her loving husband, Joel Douglas Nolen; their son, Stephen Bennet Nolen; her brothers, Bill and Jerry Dees; and her sister, Frances Arnold.
She is survived by her loving son, Brian Keith Nolen and wife Trina Nolen, and her son Stephen’s wife, Rachel Nolen. Neta had seven loving grandchildren — grandsons Nicholas and Brian Nolen and granddaughters Julia Nolen, Lee-Anna Wolfskill, Christina Draughon, Elizabeth Draughon, and Alexzandrea Greene.
A service to celebrate Neta’s life will be at 11 a.m., Saturday Jan. 23, at Gateway Church, 7104 McNeil Drive, in Austin (78729), with a luncheon following. Attire is Sunday best.
A graveside service will be at 1 p.m., Monday, Jan. 25, at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, in Dallas (75211). Flowers can be sent to Gateway Church.
