Graveside services for Carl McGinney, Jr., 92 of Tyler, are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 23, 2016 at Rose Hill Cemetery with Rev. Pat Alvey officiating, under direction of Jackson’s Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home. Mr. McGinney passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2016 in Tyler. He was born October 1, 1923 in Tyler to the late Carl and Annie Williams McGinney, Sr. Carl graduated from John Tyler High School, served in the U.S. Navy stationed out of Corpus Christi and then became a welder and worked for LaGloria Oil Refinery for 40 years.Carl was a Master Mason and a member of St. John’s Masonic Lodge # 53 in Tyler for over 60 years and a longtime member of the American Legion. He enjoyed spending time with his Whataburger Board Meeting Group. Survivors include nephews, Ronnie Page of Wylie, Larry Mathews of Garland, Jerry Mathews of Rowlett and James Mathews of Tyler; niece, Debra Starr of Owentown; brother-in-law, Charles Mathews of Tyler and close friend, Johnnie Corn of Tyler.
