Boyd McKnight

Boyd McKnight, passed away peacefully at his home in Hurricane, Utah, on Oct. 21, 2022. Boyd was 86.

He was born Oct. 30, 1936, in Heber City, Utah, to Paul and Deon McKnight. Boyd graduated from Wasatch High School in Heber City. Boyd was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He married the love of his life Sharon Smit McKnight Nov. 14, 1955, in the Salt Lake Temple for time and all eternity. Together they enjoyed a family of five daughters, 24 grandchildren and 62 great-grandchildren.

Boyd was a great provider for his family. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service for many years in the Heber City Office. After his retirement, Boyd and Sharon traveled to many different places. He and Sharon were tour guides, while he drove the bus, Sharon took care of the people. Boyd spent many hours on the trails of Washington County on his ATV and assisted with many of the ATV Jamboree’s in Hurricane. Many friendships were made and strengthened out on those trails. Boyd loved being on the golf course, he also loved a good hunting and fishing trip.

Boyd is survived by his wife of 67 years, Sharon Smit McKnight; daughters Debbie Neerings (Alan) of Midway, Utah, Robyn Muhlestein of Charleston, Utah, Patricia McKnight (Don), Barbara Phillips (Alan) of Hurricane, Utah, son-in-law Kelly Giles of Heber City, (siblings) Robert and Rhoda McKnight and Linda McKnight and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Deon McKnight, Annette Kelly (sister), Carolyn Giles (daughter), Amberly Giles (granddaughter), and Clark Muhlestein (son-in-law).

A memorial service will be held on Nov. 5 at 11 a.m. at the Sky Mountain Building, Hurricane 27th Ward, 452 North 2600 West, Hurricane.
