Chandler M. Steel

Chandler M Steel, 87, of Avondale, passed away Wednesday, December 29th at Chester County Hospital.

He was the husband of Nancy Steel with whom he shared 42 years of marriage.

Born in London Grove Township, he was the son of the late Elwood and Elizabeth Eastburn Steel.

Chandler served his country in the National Guard. Before retiring, he was a Head Mechanic and Garage Foreman for PennDot.

He enjoyed going to tractor pulls, working on lawnmowers, riding his four-wheeler at his sister’s cabin in the mountains, and spending time with his family and many friends. He was always happy to lend a helping hand.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Larry Steel and his wife, Carolyn, of West Grove and Steven Steel, Sr of Avondale; step-daughter Pamela Taylor of West Grove; 10 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his first wife Mildred Steel and his siblings Blanche, Elwood, Louis, Herbert, George, Louise, and Betty.

Family and friends are invited to attend Chandler’s graveside service at 11am on Wednesday, January 5th at Union Hill Cemetery, N. Union St., Kennett Square.
