TROY TWP. – Wilhelmina (“Willie” and “Mina”) Tinge, age 82 years young of Auburn and Troy townships, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully on Aug. 16, 2021.
Mina was born June of 1939 in Cleveland, to parents Harry and Hazel Tinge, of Auburn Township
Mina is sister to the late Rolf Tinge and Virginia Roney; sister to Mary Tinge (Hahn), of Naples, Fla.
Mina was the beloved and adored Mother of the late Cheryl Portman-Erker (preceded her in death), son Phillip Portman and daughter Kimberly Portman Mishne (E. Sean Mishne).
Mina has three grandchildren that she loved dearly and was a big part of their lives: McKenzie, Jared and Kendall Portman; and two great-grandchildren she adored and loved so much: Jace and Nicolina.
Mina graduated from Kenston High School in 1957. Living most of her life in Auburn Township on Munn Road, Mina grew up loving farm life, animals and horses. Most friends have a wonderful memory of “Willie” riding her pet cow around the farm yard!
She rode Appaloosas and was a 4-H advisor for Geauga County. Mina was a member of the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office horse posse.
She loved her dogs and cats, orchids and outdoor birds.
Mina worked sales and marketing at many venues in the area through her career, including Aurora Sheraton, The Treadway, Hunters Hollow, Hillbrook, Hollenden House and, most recently, people knew her in the deli and cheese department at Giant Eagle for 10 years.
Mina was a beautiful soul . . . Mina was a beautiful, independent lady.
I truly cannot put into words in a few paragraphs the depth of kindness, warmth and beauty my mother had.
Mina had true friendships that have lasted over 75 years. She was known by her close friends as a wonderful person and dear, dear friend.
“Willie,” “Mina,” “Mom,” “Grandma” and “GiGi” will be truly missed beyond words, but her loving memory and beauty will stay with us forever.
“Yea, though I walk through death’s dark vale, Yet will I fear no ill, For thou art with me, and thy rod and staff my comfort still”
“Surely Goodness and Mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the House of the LORD forever.” Amen. Psalm 23:6
The family will have a private celebration of life and service with close friends and family at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mina’s memory to Phillip Portman, for the future care of Phillip.
