Robert W. “Bill” McKown

Robert W. “Bill” McKown, 85, of Mount Vernon passed away on Friday, October 5, 2018 at home surrounded by his family.  He was born on August 19, 1933 in Mount Vernon to the late Robert C. and Myrtle M. (Nugent) McKown.

Bill honorably served his country in the Navy during the Korean War. He owned and operated McKown Electric in Mount Vernon for many years.  Bill was an avid motorcycle rider and belonged to the Goldwing Club and the Mid-Ohio Club.  He was a member of the McDonald’s Brew Club and a former member of the Elks Lodge 140.

Bill is survived by his wife of 63 years, Joyce I. (Nichols) McKown; daughters, Janette (Larry) Lawless of Mount Vernon and Patricia (Arthur) Holcomb of Fredericktown; grandchildren, Nathan Morrison, Nicholas Morrison and John Auker; 9 great grandchildren and step great grandchildren; and a sister, Kathleen Mosley of Altamonte Springs, FL.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jacklyn Kelly Auker.
