NEWBURY TWP. – Robert O. Carroll, age 82, of Newbury Township, died unexpectedly on Jan. 31, 2021 at his home.
Born Sept. 27, 1938, in Cleveland, to Owen and Martyna (nee Patricy) Carroll, he was a lifelong area resident.
Bob was an avid reader. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, boating and fishing.
He was a member of the Village Lodge #274 F.&A.M in Burton and a 32nd Degree Mason, ASSR Valley of Cleveland. He also was a lifelong member of the NRA, American Rifle Association and Ducks Unlimited.
Bob retired as a mechanic, tool & die maker after 50 dedicated years.
He enjoyed spending time with friends and family, especially his grandson Zach, who serves in the U.S. Navy, stationed in Norfolk, Va.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Darlene (nee Ditmer); daughter, Shirley (John) Toth, of Chardon; sister Kathy Dysert, of Utah. He also leaves children Debbie Carroll Kelety, Donna Kinsel, Mark Carroll, Doug Carroll and Patti Batchhelder; nine grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Patricia and Barbara; and grandson Myles.
The family will receive friends on Friday, Feb. 5, 2021, from 5-7 p.m., at Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., Chardon, with a public masonic service at 6:45 p.m.
The funeral service will be Saturday, Feb. 6, 2021, at 11 a.m., at the funeral home, followed by burial at Munn Cemetery in Newbury.
