Mary Ann (Foris) Hoover

God welcomed Mary Ann “MaryAnn” Hoover into Heaven on Thursday, April 1, 2021, in Westerville, Ohio, at the age of 75 after a series of health issues. She was born on April 11, 1945, in Columbus, Ohio, to Louis and Virginia (Fejes) Foris, both of whom preceded her in death.

MaryAnn graduated from Marion-Franklin High School in 1963. She worked for several companies, including Western Electric, before her long-term career with Columbus Public Schools as a secretary in the administration building in downtown Columbus, and later as a substitute school secretary for several years.

MaryAnn loved her family deeply and enjoyed her grandchildren immensely. She had two sons—Christopher Brandon “Chris” Hoover and Thad Andrew “Andy” Hoover, (from her previous marriage to Ken Hoover).  MaryAnn enjoyed reading, volunteering, traveling, and meeting friends for lunch. She was passionate about rescuing and caring for dogs and even a few cats and birds. She is survived by her beloved miniature poodle, Sophie–one of her many canine companions over the years.

In addition to her parents and her youngest son, Andy, MaryAnn was also preceded in death by her only brother, Louie Foris; nephew, Daniel Place; sister-in-law, Barbara Foris; sister, Virginia (Ginny) Place; brother-in-law, Don Place; and brother-in-law, Jack Gleich.

MaryAnn is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Chris & Jennifer Hoover and their daughters, Ashley, Anna and Ava Hoover; grandson, Alexander “Alex” Hoover, (whose parents are MaryAnn’s late son, Andy and his former wife, Kristina Michaelides); sister, Suzanne (Jack) Gleich; several cousins; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at 7 PM on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at Devore-Snyder Funeral Home, 637 N. State Route 61, (at SR 3), Sunbury, Ohio,  where the family will be receiving friends from 5 PM until time of service.

Memorial donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation or Cause for Paws, Ohio, in MaryAnn’s memory.
