Marjorie Ruth Balliett, 98, of rural Bellville and former Galion resident passed away Tuesday, November 24, 2021.
She was born December 7, 1922, in Marion, Ohio, and was the daughter of Reuben and Catherine (Hoffman) Mathias. Marjorie married Robert M. Balliett on February 15, 1941, and he preceded her in death after 68 years of marriage on April 5, 2009.
She graduated from Galion High School in 1940 and retired from First Federal Savings and Loan after 13 years where she was a bookkeeper and teller. Marjorie attended St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bellville and was a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church and First Lutheran Church both in Galion. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, reading, crossword puzzles, and taking care of her grandchildren.
Marjorie is survived by a daughter, Cynthia (Michael) Murray of Bellville; 8 grandchildren, Marty (Leanna Wolfe) Balliett, Deb (Vito) Curcuru, Ben (Kelli) Balliett, Steve (Michelle) Hinkle, Gretchen (Rob) Lowery, Tom (Joann) Balliett, Jeremy (Drea Paulson) Price and Michelle (John) Lucas; 18 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren and two sisters, Doris Rinehart and Phyllis Rorick both of Marion.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Jean Henkle; two sons, Ted Robert Balliett and Thomas James Balliett; great-grandson, Craig Jones and three sisters, Glenna Hall, Evelyn Smith, and Shirley Roberts.
A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, December 3, 2021, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 291 North Union Street, Galion, Ohio 44833 with Rev. Richard Genzman officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Galion.
