Marcus L. Taylor, 83, of Middle Point, passed away on Monday, September 5, 2016, at Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center Community Health Professionals.
He was born on June 6, 1933, in Middle Point, to Arthur “Jim” and Esther (Knittle) Taylor: both preceded him in death.
On May 22, 1953, he was united in marriage to Bonnie L. Kimmey: she survives in Middle Point.
Marcus is survived by his daughter, Kathy (Ray) Ramsdell; 2 sons, Steve (Judy) Taylor and Brad (Bonnie) Taylor; 7 grandchildren, Bruin (Sue Cready) Ramsdell, Andrea (Tobias) Jacobs, Michelle (Neal) Voress, Lacy (JJ) Tester, Jennifer Taylor, Nicholas Taylor and Robert Taylor; great-grandchildren, Ewan, Elena and Flynn, Roman and Marcus, Faith Ann, Nicholas and Deziree; and a special cousin Chuck (Helen) Ardner. He is preceded in death by 3 brothers Eugene, Donald and Max Taylor.
He was in the United States Army, 82nd Airborne, and then worked at Continental Can for 40 yrs. He was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran church in Van Wert, a past member of the Middle Point Lions Club and a member of the Van Wert American Legion. He and Bonnie loved to square dance in their younger years. For 14 years, during their retirement, they enjoyed being snow birds where they met many great friends. His biggest enjoyment in life was his family.
Funeral services will be on Friday, September 9, 2016, 11:00 a.m. with viewing one hour prior to the service at Harter and Schier Funeral Home. Pastor Haggis will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Cemetery, with military grave rites by the Delphos Veterans council. Friends may call on Thursday, September 8, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Van Wert or Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice Center.
