Kent Allen Fenton

SEVIERVILLE, TENN. – Kent Allen Fenton, age 84, of Sevierville, Tenn., formerly of Thompson Township, peacefully passed away surrounded by his family on Monday, Aug. 24, 2020.

He was born June 10, 1936, to Elmer J. and Martha (nee Kent) Fenton, in Ashtabula.

He worked for Ledgemont and Painesville local schools as a bus driver, retiring in 2002.

He married his high school sweetheart, Ruth Gail Owens, on Nov. 18, 1956, whom he met while they both attended Mt. Vernon Academy in Mount Vernon, Ohio, where they both graduated. They spent 44 happy years together. She preceded him in death on Jan. 14, 2001. They spent their lives devoted and loving over 150 foster children who all considered them their mom and dad.

Together they enjoyed their road trips on his Gold Wing, and both shared a great love for quarter horses; attending Quarter Horse Congress every year was their vacation.

One of our greatest memories we children have is of the laughter we heard while they played pinochle with their friends on the weekends.

His family was his greatest joy.

He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist church. His love and faith in God was strong and lived his life displaying his trust in him.

In 2005, Kent moved to Sevierville, where he married Frances Louise Martin. They enjoyed their retirement years visiting family, spending time enjoying the mountains, being involved with his church family and their dogs, whom he loved so much.

He is survived by wife, Frances “Frankie” Fenton, of Sevierville; and his children that he loved so very much, Kent A. Fenton Jr., of Mentor, Robin (Greg) Martin, of Sevierville, Vicki (James) Drugatz, of Orwell, Consuelo (Michael) Donnelly, of Ashtabula, Tomeko Martin, of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and Michael Fenton, of Sevierville; grandchildren, Greg (Beth) Martin Jr., Tristin (Thomas) Aquila, Justin Martin, Clint (fiancé Brittany Black) Martin, Cody Martin, Deanna Hunt, Delaney (Daniel) Kacenski), Caleb (Hayley) Martin, Brandon Baugher, Bryan Baugher, Summer Donnelly, MaKayla Riffett, Mariah Riffett and Skye Donnelly; sister, Joyce (Edgar) Allen, of Ashtabula; and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was greatly loved and will be missed by many friends, nieces, nephews and cousins.
