John Steven Barto

MONTVILLE TWP. – John Steven Barto, age 75, of Montville Township, passed away Nov. 18, 2021, at University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center.

Born Sept. 17,1946, to Chester and Mary (nee Carey) Barto, in Logan, W. Va., John was a Montville resident since 1972.

He was a machinist for both PMC Industries and Pentair Water for many years.

He loved to cruise around in his corvettes and attend car shows. John was an avid golfer and enjoyed bowling. The joy of his life was being “Papa.”

He is survived by his children, John C. (Melissa) Barto, of Lancaster, Pa., Christopher (Sarah) Barto, of Concord Township; grandchildren, Morgan, Kyler, Reese, Lily and Mason; and siblings, Chester (Darla) Barto, of Missouri, and Barbara (Bill) Ballow, of West Virginia.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, in 2018; and his parents.

The family will receive friends Monday, Nov. 22, 2021, at Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., Chardon, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.

Mass of Christian burial at The Church of St. Mary, 401 North St., Chardon, at 10 a.m.

Private family burial will take place at a later date.
