John P. Knappenburger, 66 of Bucyrus passed away on July 16, 2021, at the Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville, TN. He had been vacationing with his family. John was born June 3, 1955, in Bucyrus to the late Donald and Marilyn (Quaintance) Knappenburger. He was married July 13, 1992, to Kathy (Gallant) Knappenburger who survives. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by grandchild Amburr Lucius, brother Donald Knappenburger, and son-in-law Scott Dauchenbaugh.
John is also survived by children Maylee Dauchenbaugh of rural Bucyrus, Dayanne (Ben) Lucius of Bucyrus, Lydia and Alec Knappenburger at home; grandchildren Jaden, Patience, Kelley (Chris) Lucius, Elaina (Ian) Bowser, Jeramiah Johnson, Kaytlin (Travis) Carpenter, and Nickayla Lucius; great-grandchildren Kaydence, Khasen, Kashton, Kolsyn, and Estella; as well as uncle and aunt Bobby and Marilyn Quaintance of Bucyrus.
John graduated from Bucyrus High School in 1974. He moved to Florida in 1999 and returned to Bucyrus in 2015. John worked for several years in automobile sales. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. John enjoyed fishing, taking the kids on rides with the tractor, and being around people.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2021, at the family’s home, 701 W. Perry St. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice. The Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
