BUTLER: Gertrude Eilene Garrett, age 93 of Butler passed away January 26, 2021 at Brethren Care Center Village.
Gertrude was born November 11, 1927 in Butler to Adrian and Grace Hoover and was graduated from Butler High School in 1945.
She worked as a secretary at Dominion Electric, Ohio Brass and retired from Gorman Rupp Industries in Bellville.
Gertrude was a long-time member of Three Crosses United Methodist Church
She loved to read and for years she faithfully went to the Butler Adult Center on Tuesdays to play cards and she also had a passion for golf.
She is survived by two daughters Deborah (Ron) Mosier of Las Vegas, Nevada and Rhonda Swank of Butler; three grandchildren Lora (Jeff) McMullen of Henderson, Nevada, Christina Gerken of Clayton, Ohio and Jason (Sarah) Swank of Mansfield; six great grandchildren Dylan, Kaitlyn, Mallory, Landon, Lillian, and Riley. She is also survived by a sister-in-law Margaret Hoover and a brother-in-law Burton Garrett.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Archie, a brother William Hoover, and a grandson Michael Mosier.
Private services will be held for the family, however, friends are invited to join them via live-stream on the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home Facebook page on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at 11 am. Pastor Ken Kinley will speak and her interment will follow in Zion Four Corners Cemetery.
Memorial donations in memory of Gertrude may be made to Three Crosses Church, Kindred Hospice or the Butler Adult Center.
