Georgeanne E. Vargo, 70, of Delphos, passed away on Tuesday, August 30, 2016, at her residence. She was born July 8, 1946 in Toledo, to George and Apolonia (Horvath) Vargo. Both preceded her in death.
She is survived by a sister, Paulette “Polly” Hartranft; and a brother, Ronald (Theresa) Vargo both of Toledo; two nieces, Nicole Hartranft and Michelle (Ty) Turner; nephew, Nicholas Vargo; Great-niece, Sarah Turner; and great-nephew, Bodhi Vargo. She was preceded in death by a sister, Sharonann Vargo and brother-in-law, Thomas Hartranft.
Georgeanne was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, where she taught religion and catechism to the 6th and 7th graders. She was a graduate of Waite high school in 1964 and graduated from The University of Toledo with a BA in education and a minor in business. After graduating she taught at Pioneer, Delphos St. John’s, and Delphos Jefferson high school, where she retired from after 36 years. She enjoyed history and loved to travel, while learning about the places she visited. She had also traveled through Europe, enjoyed cooking for the nuns, baking chocolate chip cookies for the athletes and she also kept score for boys and girls basketball teams.
A memorial funeral mass will be held on September 23, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Father Dennis Walsh will officiate. Burial will be in Toledo Memorial Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
