George H. Box

SUMMERVILLE, NC: George H. Box passed away on April 2, 2021 at his residence.

George was born May 15, 1934 in Grafton, Ohio to the late P.L. and Edith (Silver) Box. He was a 1952 graduate of New London High School.

He was a veteran of the United States Army serving from December 4, 1956 to December 3, 1958.   Following his honorable discharge from the army, George returned to farming and began his career at the General Motors plant in Ontario, Ohio. He became a diemaker and retired in 1992.

George had a lifelong love of the land which led him to farming, gardening, and hunting. As a veteran, he was passionate about serving veterans. He held numerous officer positions in the AMVETS at the local, state and national level.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly whom he married June 8, 1957; Children Pamela Champ (David), Che’ Sahara, George C. Box (Darienne), and Teresa Schmidt; Grandchildren Molly Jagoditz (T.J.), Austin Schmidt (Dr. Beth Franklin), Mackenzie Mace (Pastor Alex) and Andrew Box; Greatgrandchild Ansley Mace; sister Alice Spoerr, brother-in-law Robert Erbacher (Jill), sister-in-law Barbara Erbacher and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his siblings; brother Glade Box, sisters Ellen Brown and Jane Enderby and brothers-in-law Edward Erbacher and James Spoerr.

A celebration of life will be held later this year. Memorial contributions in George’s honor may be made to the charity of choice (please send contributions directly to the charity).
