Gail A. Neikirk

HUNTSBURG TWP. – Gail A. Neikirk, 78, of Huntsburg Township, passed away Sunday, Nov. 1, 2020, with her family by her side.

She was born to the late John and Victoria (nee Wilsec) Speth on Nov. 25, 1941, in Garfield Heights. She married the love of her life, Gerald “Jerry” Neikirk, on June 4, 1960, and they shared 60 years of marriage.

Gail was a member of St. Lucy’s Catholic Church. She worked for the Middlefield Banking Company as an executive secretary for 30 years.

She absolutely loved the memories of all the family vacations they shared. She enjoyed attending the sporting events of her children and grandkids, but her most favorite thing to do was to sit with her husband on the front porch, drinking coffee,  reminiscing, spending time together and sharing memories.

Gail is survived by her husband of 60 years, Gerald Neikirk; daughter, Diane (Brian) Porter; sons, Jeff (Crystal) Neikirk, Alan (Marie) Neikirk, Tommy (Tricia) Neikirk; grandchildren, Chad (Emily) Porter, Eric Porter, Amy Porter, Kayla (Cody) Purpura, Brandon Neikirk, Hanna Neikirk; great-grandchildren, Brooke Porter and Kara Porter.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Bonnie Percher; and brother, Jack Speth.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2020, at 12 p.m., at Sly Family Funeral Home, 15670 West High St., Middlefield.

There are no public calling hours.

Burial will be at the Middlefield Cemetery following the funeral.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to UH Geauga Medical Center ICU, 13207 Ravenna Road, Chardon, OH 44024, attention Rick Keleman.

Masks will be required for the funeral per family request.
