LEXINGTON: Eva Mae (Kreps) Souder, 85, went into the loving arms of her Savior on Wednesday, March 31, 2021. She was born September 3, 1935 to Edna Christine Keefer. Eva attended Springfield Township (Ontario) schools, where she met future husband Earl E. Souder Jr., who survives her. Both Eva and Earl graduated in 1953. Eva went on to the Mansfield General Hospital School of Nursing, graduating as a Registered Nurse in 1956. She received a $100 prize for being Student Nurse of the Year. After graduation, Eva and Earl were married and would have celebrated 65 years of marriage in June. Eva was a kind and caring nurse. She was employed by Mansfield Memorial Homes for many years.
Earl and Eva moved to Lexington and were blessed with four children: Bruce (Ellen) Souder of Mansfield, Janet (Bob Baker) Souder of Powell, Sharon (Gary) Mills of Ontario, and Amy (Dennis) Mount of Lexington. They also have seven grandsons who loved Eva very much: Brian (Brittany Souder, Scott (Samantha) Mills, Steven (Stephanie) Mills, Seth (Amanda) Mills, Nate Baker, and Brandon and Jared Mount, as well as two great-granddaughters and nine great-grandsons.
Eva enjoyed watching the grandchildren play sports, including hockey, baseball, basketball and soccer. She loved flowers and had a beautiful display along her fence in Lexington for years that many passing by told her they enjoyed. She was a master at Yahtzee, loved to read and enjoyed vacationing at Pokagon State Park in Indiana and Sunset Beach, North Carolina.
Eva accepted the Lord as her personal Savior as a young girl. She was a long-time member of the MAC (formerly First Alliance) church, where she helped in the nursery. Eva was a prayer warrior and was wonderful cook. She enjoyed writing cards of encouragement and often brought meals, desserts, and small bouquets of flowers to friends and church members.
The Souder family will invite friends to call Monday. April 5th 2021 at the MAC Church (291 W Cook Rd, Mansfield) from 11am-12pm where a funeral service honoring Eva’s life will begin promptly at 12 pm. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers contributions to the Great Commission Fund may be made at the funeral.
