GENEVA – David A. Colbary, age 69, of Geneva, passed away Sept. 2, 2020, after a long illness.
David was born in Garfield Heights, on Feb. 1, 1951, to Carl E. and Joan (nee Cardaman) Colbary. He grew up in Willowick, graduating from Willoughby-Eastlake North High School in 1969. Following graduation, David joined the U.S. Navy. After serving in the Navy, he returned to Lake County to live in Willoughby.
A talented guitarist, one of David’s great passions in life was music. In his teens, David frequented The Hullabaloo Dance Club in Mentor, where he loved grooving with then-local musician Joe Walsh.
As an adult, David became a master plumber as well as a skilled heating and cooling repairman. He had an outgoing personality and a wide circle of friends.
An engaging storyteller, David loved to crack jokes to entertain his friends and family. He also loved his cats, who were his constant companions later in life.
David was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his daughter, Heather (Joe) Soha, of Dublin, Ohio; grandchildren, J.T. Mitchell and Margaret Colbary; brother, Douglas Colbary, of North Perry; sisters, Susan Colbary, of Middlefield, and Melissa (Joe) Dahlhausen, of Chardon; Uncle Gene Cardaman, of Chardon; nephews, Cliff Harrison, Karl Colbary, Max Dahlhausen; and niece, Julia Harrison.
Interment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman is planned.
