Charles Jesse Morand, age 79, of Marysville, died Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at Memorial Gables. A longtime truck driver, he was associated with Reynolds Trucking Company in London. After his years of travels across the land that he loved, he continued his career as a truck mechanic until his health forced him to retire. A veteran of the United States Navy, he served as an electrician during the Korean War. He also entertained his fellow sailors in his country band as a guitarist and lead singer. He continued his music throughout his life. He will especially be remembered by his loving family for his pipe smoke, goofy grin, taking his teeth out for the kids and his ability to make others laugh. His family loved his baritone voice while he sang, “life is like a mountain railroad.” He was born February 8, 1937 in Topeka, Kansas to the late Aaron Jacob and Mary Louise Ambrose Morand. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Calvin Morand; his sister, Mary Parks; and an infant son, Michael Allen Morand. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Jessie Fox Morand, whom he married April 16, 1983 in Westerville; his daughter, Sherri (Donny) Zaiser of Thornville; his step-children, Maggie (Dave) Mueller, Sabrina (Jim) Bowditch and Ric (Debbie) Barthel, all of Columbus; and Nancy (Bobby) Daniels of Marysville; 13 grandchildren, Kurt (Stacy) Zaiser, Michael (Lora) Morand, Dave Mueller, Liz Mueller, Nicole (Jason) Sallans, Rick Barthel, Chris (Megan) Barthel, Sevin Barthel, Anfernee Barthel, Joeniqua Barthel, Marissa Barthel, Josh Barthel and Blaze Daniels; several great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Gloria Carson; and many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
