Betty M. Squire

MANSFIELD: Betty M. Squire, 97, passed away Thursday, November 8, 2018.

She was born November 15, 1920 to parents Harry R. & Alta M. (Danner) Briggs in Blooming Grove, Ohio. Betty graduated from Plymouth High School in 1939.  On February 24, 1946, she married Quentin M. Squire. They spent 61 years together until he passed away in 2007.

Betty was known for her love of family, animals, and excellent cooking.  She worked for Mansfield City Schools as an Elementary Secretary, retiring after 32 years. She was also the oldest living member of Linden Road Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by her daughter Linét Adkins of Mansfield; grandchildren Christopher Adkins, Heather (Peter) Hernandez, Hollie (Brian) McCauley and Andrew Adkins; great grandchildren Halie, Morgan, Brooklynn, Dana, Peter, Delana, Jonathon, and Quentin; great-great grandchildren Myla, Mia, Jordan, and Gavin; and sister Margaret (Harold) Myers.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; great granddaughter Aleecia; siblings Lois Briggs, Lucille Pollock, Eda Briggs, Harry Briggs, Whitney Briggs, Leland Briggs, and Zanette Fackler.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at 11 a.m. in the Linden Road Presbyterian Church, 160 S. Linden Road, Mansfield, Ohio where visitation will be held the hour prior. Pastor Tom Roepke will officiate.  Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.

The Marion Avenue Snyder Funeral Home is serving Betty’s family.  Memorial contributions to assist her family with expenses (please make checks payable to the Squire Family Trust) may be made at the funeral home.
