Anna K. Deptola

Anna K. (nee Ulichnie) Deptola, age 90, a 55-year resident of Euclid, died at Hospice House in Cleveland on Oct. 12, 2021.

She was born Jan. 10, 1931, to Jacob and Anna (nee Shimmel) Ulichnie in Lucerne Mines, Pa.

Anna married Raymond R. Deptola on Sept. 19, 1959. He preceded her in death on Jan. 2, 2002.

Anna was a selfless homemaker for her husband and family for half of her life.  She also worked outside the home at a Cleveland bakery and as an injection press operator for Precision Metalsmiths in Cleveland until her retirement in 1991.

She was a member of St. Christine Catholic Church in Euclid for many years, where her children attended school. Most recent, she was a member of St. Noel Catholic Church in Willoughby Hills.

Her hobbies included reading, floral and vegetable gardening, working on puzzles, ceramics and baking.  She will be remembered for her Christmas-time homemade pierogies, pizzelles and her grandchildren’s favorite Rice Krispie treats.

Anna enjoyed “going for rides in the country” with her husband, visiting with relatives, caring for animals and feeding the birds in the wintertime. She was always there to love, care and support her children and grandchildren. They were her pride and joy.

Anna is survived by her daughter, Elaine Taranowski, of Euclid; sons, Raymond (Sonja Paetzel), of Burton, and Chaz (Joyce), of Aurora; five grandchildren, Samuel, Stephen, Matthew, Lauren and Jack; sister Susan Reibel, of Cambridge Springs, Pa.; and brother Peter Ulichnie, of Penn Run, Pa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters Elizabeth Walters and Marie Shank; brothers John and Jacob Ulichnie; and son-in-law, David Taranowski.

Private family services were held with interment in All Souls Cemetery, Chardon Township.
