BUTLER: It was Andrew Mickley’s easy-going personality, his mellow spirit, and his laid-back attitude that drew people to him. His smile and kindness – coupled with intolerance for stress in his life – that made him a near-perfect friend. And he enjoyed spending time with his dear friends.
Andrew passed away Thursday, March 25, 2021 in OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital. He was 62.
Born Andrew James Mickley November 27, 1958 in Mansfield to parents Jesse Thomas and Edith Lee (Correll) Mickley, he was graduated from Clear Fork High School in 1977. Affectionately nicknamed “Mole”, he played Little League baseball, and later, basketball in high school.
Andrew was a skilled auto body worker – he had worked at McClure’s in Loudonville before accepting a position with the DeCosky Dealership in Mt. Vernon. At various times, he also worked with Smith’s Body Shop in Butler. Mole was so good at auto body work that he was asked to teach the vocation at his alma mater: The Knox County Career Center.
Mole enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting and golfing, and he followed just about any Ohio sports team: Cleveland Indians, Browns and Cavaliers, as well as the local Clear Fork teams.
He is survived by sisters Janet (Brent) Mellott and Joy (Cary) Stover all of Butler; nieces and nephew Jessica Mellott, Jared (Emily) Mellott, Megan (Drew) Vidonish, Shelby Stover, and Katie Mickley (Bruce Newton); great nieces and great nephews Lacey, Maveric, Tatum, Baylee, Autumn, Owen and Monroe; and a cherished friend Dianne “Dee Dee” Dorner.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Jeffrey Thomas Mickley.
The Mickley family will receive friends Tuesday, March 30, 2021 from 1 to 3 pm in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home. Face coverings are expected and social distancing will be observed. Limited occupancy in the funeral home may increase wait times. A graveside funeral service will be held Tuesday at 3:30 pm in Bunkerhill Cemetery. Dr. Michael Stine will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Clear Fork Nutrition Program or Worthington Township Fire Department may be made at the funeral home.
