Marvin James Burke

Marvin James Burke of McLeansville, NC passed away March 17, 2019.
The celebration of life will be March 21 at 1:00 at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Lakeview Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at Forbis and Dickon North Elm Street.
Marvin was born in Goldston, NC May 10, 1923 to Charlie and Callie Burke. He came to Greensboro in 1939. He retired a successful businessman with Stanley Home Products and continued his friendship with his Stanley friends until he passed.
Marvin was preceded in death by his first wife of fifty years, Johnnie Koontz Burke and his granddaughter, Dawn Lewis Hall; also, his parents, Charlie and Callie Hart (Wall Lewis) and 7 Siblings. Survivors include his two daughters, Judy Twine (Robin), Rachel Lawson (Ivan) and five grandchildren; Rachelle Bundy (Jim), Michael Lewis, Stephanie Wall Hunt (David), Shannon Cobb, Stephen Wall II (Nicole) and 8 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great, Great Grandchildren. He loved being a grandfather (Papa) and an Uncle (like a second Dad) to his nieces and nephews. Our family wants to thank you for your continued time, love and devotion. A special thank you to our Aunt Jean the care and devotion to our family.
Survivors are his present wife, Clonnie Overby Burke, seven stepchildren: Bobby (Margaret)Overby, Shirley (Jack) Fleming, Debbie (Jimmy) Way, Barbara (Terry) Cook, Delores (Bo) McMasters, Connie Misenheimer, Ronnie Overby; 14 grandchildren and 18 Great Grandchildren.
How blessed he said he was to have a loving family. He loved God, his family, and his many friends. We will all remember him for his unconditional love and warmth, his devotion to helping his family, his kindness and generosity, his quarters and $2.00 Bills and visiting all his shut-in friends.
