Dorothy Mae Ellis Keaton

ADVANCE – Mrs. Dorothy Mae Ellis Keaton, 86, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 25, 2021, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
Dorothy loved her family very much and treasured every minute she spent with them. She loved going out to eat, listening to Dr. Charles Stanley and doing word search puzzles.
She loved sitting on her porch swing watching the birds and squirrels and talking about the beautiful things God has given us.
Dorothy was born February 25, 1935, to Floyd and Etta Ellis, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Frankie Monroe Keaton; an infant daughter, Linda; and a sister, Betty Dull.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Peggy Hendrix of Mocksville, Donna Custer (Dewey) of Cleveland, Judy Montgomery of Mocksville, Frankie Keaton (Karen) of Mocksville, Kathy Sparks (Tommy) of Mocksville, Lynn Naylor (Watson) of Mocksville, Jo Beamer (Jerry) of Yadkinville and Annette Beauchamp (Doug) of Advance; and last but not least, her little dog, Ally, whom she loved with all her heart.
Also left to cherish her memory are her 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two great great-grandchildren. She was very proud of all of them and loved them so much. Also, her siblings, Janie Gallimore, Floyd Ellis, Margaret Foster, Frances Hepler and Steven Westerlage.
She is also survived by hundreds of children she babysat during her life. To her, they were family.
The family would like to thank everyone for the calls, visits, texts, prayers and food. A very special thanks to Forsyth Medical Center ER staff, 8th floor pulmonary ICU unit and especially her doctor, Dr. Tarter for all their love and care. Also, to Janet Powell for her unending help navigating the hospital. God bless you all for what you do and continue to do every day.
A graveside memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 3, at Bixby Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Advance with Rev. Jimmy Truell officiating. Face masks and social distancing are requested by the family. The family will be at the home of her daughter, Peggy Hendrix beginning Saturday, July 31 to Tuesday, August 3.
We will miss you mama, but we know you are in a beautiful place. We will reunite again.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be considered for Bixby Presbyterian Church general fund, 1806 Fork Bixby Road Advance, NC 27006 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
