Genecco, Vincent Peter

Vincent Peter Genecco passed away at home in Fayetteville, NY on January 13, 2016. Vince was born in Canandaigua, NY on August 3, 1933. He graduated from Canandaigua Academy in 1951 and from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA in 1955. Vince then served in the US Army Counter Intelligence Corps in Japan from 1956 to 1958. After returning from Japan, Vince managed his family’s grocery store in Canandaigua until the store was sold to P&C Food Markets in 1973. At that time he joined P&C as Director of the Wholesale & Franchise Division and was later named Executive Vice President. Vince retired in 1993 after 20 years with P&C.
Vince was actively involved in many sports and activities throughout his life. He played baseball as a catcher in high school, college, the Army, and for a local semi-pro team, the Canandaigua Lakers. He was an avid snow skier and water skier, card player, and boater on the Finger Lakes and the St. Lawrence River, where he spent many good times with family and friends. He was also a licensed pilot, and he belonged to a flying club for many years. In recent years, Vince enjoyed playing the options market, being a volunteer driver for FISH, and wintering in The Villages in Florida, where he belonged to several clubs, taught a Stock Options course at the Life-Long Learning College, and frequently fished and played golf with friends.
Vince was pre-deceased by his parents, Leo and Mary (Palumbo) Genecco; brother, Frank Genecco; nephew, Paul Genecco; and niece-in-law, Francine Genecco. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Anita Ace; three children, Peter (Elizabeth Doyle) of Troy, NY, Maria (Timothy Stotz) of Medway, MA, and Timothy of Boston, MA; and three grandchildren, Carlie Genecco and TJ and Tommy Stotz. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Mary Genecco and Susan Genecco; brother, Leo (Susan Ferraglio); sister, Carol (Tom Bir); brother-in-law, Ivan Ace (Marilyn Wilcox); and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, January 17 at St. Ann’s Church, 104 Academy Street, Manlius. The funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 18 at St. Ann’s Church.
