HAMDEN — Frances Johnson, 94, of Hamden, formerly of Brooklyn, went to join her beloved husband, Harold in heaven on Tuesday evening, Jan. 19, 2016, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on Oct. 16, 1921, in Brooklyn, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Amelia (Sheilds) Boorman.
Frances was employed with the New York City Public Schools and worked as a secretary and teacher’s aide until her retirement.
Mrs. Johnson was married on March 6, 1943, in Brooklyn, to the love of her life, Harold J. Johnson. They enjoyed more than 71 years together until his passing on Oct. 18, 2014.
Frances is survived by three sons, Harold (Angela) Johnson of Stamford, Arthur G. (Deborah) Johnson of Toms River, New Jersey, and Gerard F. (Barbara) Johnson of Hamden; grandchildren, Bernadette (Paul) Barnao, Stacey (Edward) Stevens, Steven (Florence), Christopher (Gina), Eric (Katie), Keith (Gina), and Jerry (Jessica) Johnson; 13 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her husband, she was predeceased by a grandson, Daniel Johnson.
A mass will be held in the spring at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Delhi, with the Rev. Darius Mojallali, celebrant. Spring burial will follow in Hamden Cemetery.
