Dominic L. Porpiglia of Poughkeepsie, NY and formerly of Milton, NY passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Vassar Brothers Hospital with family and friends by his side. He was 65.
He resided in Poughkeepsie, NY for the last 15 years. Dominic was born in Milton, NY on March 29, 1950. He was the son of the late Anthony and Marie Brenni Porpiglia.
Survivors include his brother, Anthony Porpiglia and his wife, Paula of Newburgh; his sister, Elaine Porpiglia Frazier of New Paltz; his niece, Nicole Porpiglia and several aunts and cousins.
Dominic was predeceased by his parents, Anthony and Marie Porpiglia; his brother, John Porpiglia in 2012 and his stepmother, Theresa Lagatutta Porpiglia in 2004.
Dominic worked for a short period of time in the transportation service in Poughkeepsie before his illness.
The most important thing in Dominic’s life was his family and everybody that knew him knew he was very compassionate and kind and he loved his family and friends very deeply. He will be greatly missed by his family, close friends and everybody that knew him. The family would like to thank the neighbors and people that were in his life for the past few years for their caring and consideration during his illness. Also a thank you to the Vassar Brothers Staff for their outstanding care of him in his last few weeks.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., today, Monday at the DiDonato Funeral Home, 1290 Route 9W, Marlboro. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning at Our Lady of Mercy Church, Roseton with Father Thomas Dicks officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lattintown Road, Marlboro.
