Sherlene L. Urban

Sherlene L. Urban, 76 of Sunburg, died Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Bethesda Club Suites in Willmar. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at First Lutheran Church of Norway Lake near New London. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Johnson Funeral Home in New London and for one hour prior to the service at church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. www.hafh.org

Sherlene Lorraine Urban was born on March 30, 1942 in Hutchinson, the daughter of Lester and Gertrude (Veenhuis) Sturges. She attended Biscay Elementary and Hutchinson High School, graduating in 1960. On January 27, 1962, Sherlene was united in marriage to John Urban. They made their home in St. Paul before moving to Games Lake in 1967. She worked for Jennie-O for several years, then at the Willmar Regional Treatment Center in the food service department for 24 years, before retiring in 2002. Sherlene and John were able to share in 39 years of marriage before his death on June 12, 2001.

Sherlene was an active member of First Lutheran Church of Norway Lake and New London Legion Auxiliary, where she served in every office. She enjoyed spending time with friends and family, dancing, casino trips, feeding the birds, fishing and gardening.

Sherlene is survived by her children, Joseph (Mary) Urban of Sunburg, Kathleen (Craig) Hinseth of New London and Mary (Brett) Bilky of Spicer; son-in-law, Randy Anderson; six grandchildren, Heather, Michael, Jessica, Brian, Alex, and Brenda; five great-grandchildren, Nora, Mason, Rozlyn, Lily and Holden and siblings, Leo Sturges and Walter (Harriet) Sturges. She was preceded in death by her husband, John; daughter, Theresa; brother, Leslie; parents, Lester and Gertrude (Veenhuis) Sturges and step-father, Lynn M. Culbertson.
