Richard G. Dallenbach, age 77 of Walnut Grove, passed away Friday, January 15, 2021 at Sanford Tracy Medical Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, January 22 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tracy. The service will be livestreamed on the Stephens Funeral Service Facebook page. Visitation is 4 – 7 p.m. Thursday at the Tracy Area Funeral Home, and will continue one hour prior to the service at church on Friday. Guests will be required to wear a mask and practice social distancing guidelines. A 50% indoor occupancy restriction will be maintained. Richard G. Dallenbach was born August 15, 1943 in Tracy, Minnesota to Hugo and Frances (Ocharzk) Dallenbach. He was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith. He attended school in Walnut Grove, and graduated in 1961. On June 23, 1962, Richard married Cathy Weinzetl at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tracy. The couple settled on a farm near Walnut Grove where they farmed the land and raised their family. Richard was a Redwood County Assessor, and a member of the Johnsonville Township board. He was a longtime member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Walnut Grove. Richard loved the outdoors and had a passion for conservation; he planted countless trees and bushes in his lifetime. He especially enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and taking them to “the pond”. Richard enjoyed being with his friends playing pool or card games. He and Cathy spent many winters at their home in Arizona. Richard’s family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Sanford Tracy Medical Center and Prairie View Senior Living for the wonderful care given to Richard. Richard is survived by his wife, Cathy; children: Greg (Kathy) of Bird Island, Vicky Rasmussen of Tracy, Valerie Dallenbach (Brad) of Lake Shetek; 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister Marilyn Phillippe of Cottonwood; brother David (Mary) of Tulsa, OK; sister-in-law JoAnn Dallenbach of Farmington; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
