Phyllis, 96 of Saginaw MN went to be with her Lord and Savior and the love of her life Andy on September 8, 2020.Phyllis was born to Seymour and Emma Rood on May 9, 1924. She graduated from Proctor High School in 1942, worked at the Twig Lumber Company where she met and married the love of her life, Andrew R. Hoiem on July 21, 1951 then adopted 3 children Donald, Kenneth, and Dawn. Phyllis and Andy belonged to Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Twig where she led and taught in the Sunday school, lead and served the LCW, served for funerals and church suppers, was in the quilting circle, served Lenten services, served on the alter guild, and sang in the church choir. After Andrew passed away in 1977, Phyllis started doing house cleaning for various people, including Paul and Jane Bergquist, where Paul asked her to work for him at Johnson Mortuary where she cleaned until she retired at 72. In her spare time Phyllis loved to garden, crochet rag rugs, knit, read, study her bible, bake, watercolor paint, collect antiques, and spend time with her family. Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents Seymour and Emma Rood, the love of her life Andrew, brothers Robert and Seymour Jr., and sons Donald and Kenneth. Phyllis is survived by daughter Dawn (Eugene Jr) Russell, Dawn’s children Brandy (Keenan) Maus, Jennifer (Donald) Russell Smith, Eugene (Chelsea) Russell III, all of Saginaw, MN. Donald’s children Amy (Tom) Fort of St. Charles, MN and Andrew (Jennifer) Hoiem of Rochester, MN. Kenneth’s children Hannah (Josh) Triplett of Goshen, AL, Jacob Hoiem of North Branch, MN and Esther Hoiem of North Port, FL. Great grandchildren Mia and Greyson Russell Smith, Sonja Phyllis, Riley, Jax and Logan Russell, Emma Fort and Amelia Triplett. Phyllis, mom, gram, gate gama will be greatly missed. She was loved by all who knew her. Per mom’s request, there will be no funeral.
