Peggy “JoAn” Rands, age 89, of Hermantown, passed away Friday, November 27, 2020 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth. She was born March 22, 1931 in Cody, Wyoming, the daughter of John and Zona (Kearns) Peterson. JoAn was united in marriage to Duane Rands on August 18, 1951. She worked as a secretary for Caribou Lake School and Bayview School. JoAn was a member of the Owls Club, Maple Grove Homemakers, Solway Seniors, and Eastern Star Chapter 56 in Duluth. JoAn was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Jean LeMay; and one grandson, Jake Kesti. She is survived by her husband, Duane Rands; children, Gene (LouAnn) Rands, Sharon (Ken) Sievers, Diane (Scott) Kesti, and David (Barb) Rands; two brothers, John (Marlene) Peterson and Mike (Judy) Peterson; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A private family memorial service will be held Saturday, December 5, 2020 at Nelson Funeral Care in Cloquet. Inurnment will be at Sunrise Memorial Park in Hermantown.
