Mary Pietrusa, 92, died peacefully on Sunday, August 16, 2020, and went into the loving arms of Jesus. Mom lived in Duluth and Superior, and the past year at Barnes Care in Esko. Mom was born in Poland and came to Duluth in 1951 with her husband John, three children and the fourth child on the way. She worked so hard to care for her seven children and taught us the value of hard work and saving. Our parents purchased their first home on 18th Avenue East in Duluth, purchased and operated a large apartment building, and their last big endeavor was purchasing the Shoreline Motel in Superior, WI in 1976, which they operated for 30 years. Dad passed in 1988 and Mom continued to operate the motel by herself for 18 more years until she retired at the age of 78. She is survived by her two sons Richard (Pamela) of Duluth and Stanley of Minneapolis; four daughters, Linda Kunkel (Joe) and Helen Hoglund of Duluth, Gloria McDonald of California, Lisa Kampa (Tony) of Kansas, and multiple beautiful grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mom was predeceased by her husband John and her son Lucien of Fort Lauderdale, FL.The family wants to thank Barnes Care staff for their dedicated and loving care of our Mom. We appreciate all of you so much! The family will have a private graveside service at the Polish Catholic Cemetery in Duluth. The Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, 1209 E. 5th Street, Superior, is assisting the family with arrangements.
