10/5/35-9/20/20 Loving wife, mother, grandmother & great grandmother. Marilyn peacefully passed away on Sunday Sept. 20. Born Oct. 5, 1934 to Francis and Stanley Mackowiak in Duluth, MN. She spent her life in Duluth until her recent move to Maple Grove, MN earlier this year. After graduating from Denfeld in 1952, she began a career at Minnesota Power and Light during which she met the love of her life, John, while he was stationed at the Finland Air Force Base. She worked at Miller Dwan for over 20 years as a purchasing agent. She remained at Miller Dwan as a volunteer for many years. In her retirement, she enjoyed cruises and traveling the country with friends and family. Marilyn loved to play bridge with her “bridge club”, gardening, decorating her home & spending time with friends & family. She was devoted to her Catholic faith, a member of St. Michaels Church since 1968. Her favorite past time was to be with her grandkids and great grandkids. Marilyn was loved by many and will be missed greatly. Preceded in death by her Mom, Dad, beloved Aunt Helen and Uncle Jim who helped raise her after her father passed away when she was 9. Survived by loving husband of 64 years John. Children: Mike (Michele), Kathy (Ross) Meyer, and Jim (Teresa). Grandchildren: Justin (Heidi) Meyer & Amanda Wickman, Amy (Dan) Brogan & Nicholas (Chelsea) Warren. Great Grandchildren: Connor, Penelope, Kayla. A private family graveside service will be held in Duluth. A celebration of life will take place in 2021.
