Kathleen Nys Bennett

Alltid Elsket (Always Loved) Aldri Glemt (Never Forgotten) Kathleen Bennett, age 84, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2020. She was born on July 17, 1935, in Duluth, Minnesota to Adric and Alphild Nys. She married her sweetheart, Bill {John} on July 12, 1952, who preceded her in death on June 16, 1992. She was also preceded in death by her son, Thomas Edward in 2013. She traveled and resided in many places during her lifetime, but the North Shore was always her home. She loved her cottage on Lake Superior and making memories with her family and friends. She was a gifted gardener. She spent each fall planning and planting bulbs of beautiful tulips, hyacinths, and daffodils for spring, along with a vast amount of other annuals and perennials. She had an insatiable love of reading and could breeze through a book in a single day. Her favorite authors were King, Koontz, Patterson, Clancey, and Ludlum. She played on her high school basketball team was a skilled ice skater. When asked as to how she had grown to be so accomplished on the ice, she replied, “I am Norwegian!! I was born on skates!” She was employed as Chief Supervisor of Central Supply at the Oklahoma City Veterans Administration Medical Center until her retirement after 20 years. Kathleen is survived by her four daughters and their husbands, six great grandchildren, and many beloved nieces and nephews, whom she greatly loved and admired.
