Karen Norberg of Indianapolis, IN, died of natural causes on January 21, 2021. She was born at home to William and Wellma Norberg during the Armistice Day blizzard of November 11, 1940, in Moose Lake, MN. Karen grew up on a registered Guernsey dairy farm and as a youth, competed with Guernseys at the Carlton County Fair, the MN State Fair, and the National Dairy Congress. Karen graduated from Barnum High School and the University of Minnesota, Duluth. She taught English in Coleraine, MN, and IL and IN; and graded college entrance essays with Macmillan Testing. She was a strong and independent woman, and enjoyed gardening, the Hallmark channel, politics, telling family stories, and loved rescuing dogs and cats. Karen was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by six siblings, William (Karen), Port Charlotte. FL; Marilyn Dean (Hugh), Minneapolis, MN; Marvel Jordan, Roseville, MN; Cheryl Rushenberg (Gerry), St. Paul, MN; Gwen Oraskovich (David) of Waseca, MN; Teresa Norberg-King (Mike King), Duluth, MN; many nieces and nephews; Uncle Lyle (Audrey) Anderson, Moose Lake, MN; and numerous cousins. Karen was loved by her family and friends who will remember her always. A virtual memorial will be held on 7 March.
