Judy Ann Rossi, age 66 of Blackduck, MN, died April 1, 2020 following a long and courageous battle with Myelodysplastic Syndrome. Judy was born to Clinton and Wanda Torfin April 22, 1953. She graduated from Bemidji Senior High School in 1971. She became a dental assistant and later attended Normandale Community College, becoming a dental hygienist. As a dental hygienist she worked in offices in the Twin Cities and in northern Minnesota. Over her lifetime Judy had a variety of jobs but her most cherished job was that of a mother and grandmother. Her ongoing support and love for her children and grandchildren was without end. Judy had a constantly growing variety of interests, from gardening to making furniture for the grandchildren, spontaneous road trips, kayaking, and caring for variety of pets, ranging from cats and dogs to horses. She also was a gifted designer and incorporated many of her ideas into the building of her and husband Joe’s current home. Earth Day falls on Judy’s birthday and she took it to heart, making sure her birthday celebration would include an activity that honored and helped beautify the earth, whether it be participating in planting or neighborhood cleanup. She was also involved in the orchid rescue along the Lady Slipper Scenic Byway between Pennington and Blackduck, helping to preserve the native orchid population while the roadway was under construction. And while Judy’s life was cut short by cancer, we can take comfort in knowing that life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by those moments that take our breath away. Judy, you certainly did that with your truly magnificent life. Judy is survived by her loving husband Joe; daughters Clover Hedlund, Ria (Chad) Cammack, Ananda Fissinger; grandchildren Mason Hedlund, Bobby Cammack, Daisy Cammack; great grandchildren Svea Hedlund, Owen Hedlund; sister Barb (Jim) Treat and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Clinton and Wanda Torfin; brothers Gary, Rick, Jim; nephew Matthew Torfin. A celebration of life will be held for Judy at 1st Presbyterian Church in Bemidji on October 2nd at 2 PM. Family greetings will begin at 1 PM. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to either the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge, Minneapolis, the ladyslipperscenicbyway.org, the Bemidji Community Food Shelf or a charity of the donor’s choice.
