Beloved father and grandfather Gerald Lee Snyder, died peacefully after visiting with his children and grandchildren, on 7/11/20 of complications following surviving COVID-19 twice. Jerry was a 4th of July baby, 1939, to Willow and Don in Superior, WI, the middle of three children. Graduating from Duluth East HS, he then received a degree in music from UMD, where he met his first wife.Jerry began his professional life by becoming the manager of the very first Musicland at the HarMar Mall in Roseville, Minnesota. He left that position to become the Band Director at Chisholm High school, MN, a position he served with much pride and satisfaction for 30 years. Choir Director for both St. Joseph’s Catholic church and St. Leo’s in Hibbing for most of that time. He treasured his faith and fellowship. Jerry led the Hibbing and Chisholm City bands for many years and played in numerous groups, most recently The Desert Brass Band in Arizona. “Graduating” finally in 1999 from CHS, Jerry took to the snowbird life, between Hibbing, MN and Surprise, AZ, where he met his second wife. Golfing was Jerry’s most passionate pastime, taking pride in being a scratch golfer and achieving a hole-in-one three times. Preferring to be called “Grumpy” by his grandchildren, he is survived by his brother Donald Snyder, sister Wendy (Barney) Kimball, children Rick (Sharon) Snyder and Julie (Brian) Wedell, grandchildren Halle and Dalton Litz, stepdaughter Debra (Mark) Shaver , and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents-in-law, Cecil/Helen Quayle, his parents, Willow/Don Snyder, his first wife Mary Ann, his second wife, Annette, brothers-in-law Ed & Billy Quayle, and his sister-in-law Diana.
