Freida Taatjes, age 99, of Willmar and formerly of Raymond, passed away Monday morning, June 29, at Carris Health Rice Care Center in WillmarFuneral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 3, at Bunde Christian Reformed Church. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Central Minnesota Christian School are preferred. Arrangements are with Tri-County Funeral Home in Prinsburg. www.tricountyfuneral.com Freida Taatjes was born on December 5, 1920, in Rheiderland Township, Chippewa County, Minnesota, the daughter of Henry and Stina (Peters) Bohlsen. She grew up in the Bunde community and received her education in a country school and continued her education at Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa, where she received her teaching certificate. Freida taught school at Central Minnesota Christian School in Prinsburg. On February 18, 1944, she was united in marriage to Ervin Taatjes. They lived and farmed in Holland Township until moving to Raymond. Freida lived at Cardinal Care in Prinsburg from July 2004 to October 2016. After that she resided at Sophia House and Rice Care Center in Willmar. Freida was a life-long member of Bunde Christian Reformed Church where she was baptized, made her Profession of Faith, taught Sunday School and was active in ladies aide. Freida enjoyed reading, gardening, flowers, biking and cross country skiing. She and Ervin loved to travel and enjoyed not only traveling throughout the United States but took several trips to Germany as well. She is survived by her children, Randall (and Sherrill) Taatjes of Prior Lake, Douglas (and Linda) Taatjes of Grand Rapids, MI., Jerome (and Marcia Taatjes of Spicer and Joan (and Robert) Swyter of Renville; nine grandchildren and twenty-eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ervin in 2003; one grandson, Derek and great grandson, Dylan in 2011; two sisters, Martha McClung and Vivian Otto; and one brother, Arthur Bohlsen.
