Fidelis “Fiddle” Anne Shea, 93, of Benson, died Saturday, October 30th at Scandi Haven Village in Benson. Her funeral service will be at 1:00 pm, Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Murdock. Visitation will be one hour prior to her service. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar. www.hafh.org Fidelis “Fiddle” Anne Shea was born December 3, 1927, to George and Alvina (Surprenant) Weinzetl in Currie. She was baptized in the Catholic faith and attended Catholic School until the 8th grade in Currie. Since she was one of the oldest of 10 children, she took on the responsibility of helping raise her siblings. At a young age she started helping on the family farm. Fiddle married Ambrose Shea and they moved to Redwood Falls where they started their own farm. To this union six children were born. Fiddle stayed at home and raised the children. In 1952 their family moved to Murdock where Fiddle started working part time at the nursing home and later Jennie-O. After Ambrose died in 1971 Fiddle started working at Carlson Manufacturing in Kerkhoven until 1990. She was an active member at Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she often helped in the kitchen for funerals. She enjoyed dancing, especially to Polka music. Fiddle kept a perfect yard and loved to mow, and tend to her vegetable and flower garden. Fiddle volunteered with mary things, including serving meals at Westwood Manor. She loved to play cards especially Skipbo, solitaire and dominos. She also loved hosting family events and spending as much time as she could with her family. She was a loving wife, mom, grandma and friend. Fiddle is survived by her children: Beverly Egge of Kandiyohi, Steve (Shannon) Shea of Benson, and Jeff (Brenda) Shea of Benson; 20 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters: Therese Dardis and Dolores Dardis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ambrose, parents, George and Alvina Weinzetl; children: James Shea, Jean Summerlet, and Sue Ecklund; siblings: John, Wally, Vince, Jerry, Larry, Marge and Agnes; brothers-in-law, Emery and Duane; sister-in-law: Leonessa; and sons-in-law: Duane Egge and Roger Monson. Fiddle’s family wishes to thank Mardelle Bridgeland, Collette Dragt and the entire staff at Scandi Haven Village in Benson for all the care they gave their mother.
