Dennis Theodore Erpelding, 87, of Bemidji, MN died on Thursday, December 2, 2021 at the Autumn Hills Assisted Living in Bemidji, MN.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wilton, MN with Rev. Raul Cobo-Perez officiating and followed by military honors. Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Monday, December 6, 2021 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with a prayer service at 7:00 PM followed by a rosary led by the Knights of Columbus. Interment will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Shooks, MN. Dennis was born on March 10, 1934 in Glencoe, MN, the son of Peter and Catherine (Griep) Erpelding. He and his family moved to Blackduck, MN and he graduated from Blackduck High School in 1952. He joined the US Army in 1952 and was honorably discharged in 1954. He was united in marriage with Annella C. Mohs in 1958 in Shooks, MN and they made their home north of Blackduck. He started the Corner Garage in 1954 and operated a farm equipment business from 1954 to 1985 and an automobile business from 1985 until his retirement in 2002. He continued to help with the business after retirement. Dennis operated a sawmill for many years that he enjoyed. He loved to get together with friends and play cards. In his later years he enjoyed camping and trips down south in the winter. He enjoyed visits with family and friends. He moved to Bemidji in 2016 and married Elaine Erickson. He was a past member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Blackduck, the Knights of Columbus, American Legion Post #372 of Blackduck, and the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wilton. Dennis is survived by his wife, Elaine Erpelding of Bemidji; his 10 children, Cynthia (Dennis) Nord of Blackduck, Kevin (Lorie) Erpelding of Bemidji, MN, Bryan Erpelding of Motley, MN, Brad (Sandra) Erpelding of Bemidji, Sheila (Art) Dockendorf of Bemidji, Cheryl (Randy) Pauly of Bemidji, Susan (Mark) Mistic of Bemidji, Craig (Danise) Erpelding of Brainerd, MN, Christie (Scott) Turn of Bemidji, and Brenda (Blake) Fisher of Andover, MN; 28 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; his siblings, Carol (Verne) Bowman, Yvonne (Duane) Moore, Emmett (Karen) Erpelding, Marlys (Mike) Lucy, and Renee (Harold) Frenzel; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Annella Erpelding; 2 infant sons, Stephen and Gregory Erpelding; his parents, Pete and Kate Erpelding; an infant granddaughter, Katelyn Erpelding; father and mother-in-law, Norbert and Martha Mohs; and numerous other in-laws.
