Barbara Sue Silberman Howard, 74, passed away peacefully with family by her side on September 2, 2020. Barbara was a 1964 graduate of Duluth Central High School. She had many different jobs from high school on. Some of her jobs included, Glass Block where she worked in gift wrapping and layaway, a switch board operator and secretary for an insurance company and an employee at Tonka Toys as a riveter. She was known as “Rosy the riveter.” Barbara also received a degree as a Medical Technician in Minneapolis. One of her favorite jobs was working at the Marsh, a center for balance and fitness. Later, she worked for the Hopkins School District for 34 years. She worked with special needs children and was the Secretary to the Superintendent of the Hopkins Public School District 270. Barbara also was able to run a daycare out of her home. She was a member of Beth Shalom in Minnetonka, MN. Barbara was a woman of great compassion and love. Her kindness and love will be greatly missed. Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Bert and Ethel Silberman, and her grandson Jesse Silberman. She is survived by her brother, Elliot Silberman, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, niece Hanna Evancy (Chase Evancy) of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, daughter, Robin Hoj (Jeff Hoj), grandchildren, Lila and Hendrick Hoj of Redding, California, son, Lee Howard of Minneapolis, Minnesota, cousins, Lonna Rae Silverman (Jerry) of Dallas, Texas, Erin Bleiler (Jared) of Spring, TX, Lyle Bergal (Lynn) of Duluth, Minnesota. Lauren Portinga (Jake) of New Hope, Minnesota, Alex Bergal of Minneapolis, Minnesota, former husband, Robert (Bob) Howard of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Funeral will be held at Temple Emanuel Cemetery 4200 Woodland Avenue Duluth, Minnesota on November 6th at 1:00.
