Arnold “Arnie” Herbert Jerde
Arnold Herbert Jerde, 68, of Cloquet, died unexpectedly Tuesday, October 9, 2018 in St. Luke’s Hospital, Duluth. He was born May 1, 1950 in Marietta, Minnesota, the son of Herbert and Eleanor Jerde.
Arnie worked as the maintenance supervisor for the City of Scanlon for more than 30 years. He loved spending time with his family. Arnie enjoyed restoring classic cars, working on the cars with his son, Ted, and was a member of the Minnesota Street Rod Association (MSRA) for more than 20 years. He also enjoyed hunting, was an avid downhill skier and had the opportunity to ski some of the premier resorts.
He was preceded in death by his father, Herbert Jerde; brother, Jerry Jerde; brothers-in-law, Wendel Goad and Gordy Doble and a sister-in-law, Judy Jerde.
Arnie will be deeply missed and is survived by his wife, Gerri, of Cloquet; mother, Eleanor Jania of Carlton; children, Tina Larson (Ray Blake) of Carlton and Ted (Allison) Jerde of Cloquet; step-children, Darrien (Jennifer) Thorstad of Black Mountain, NC and Theresa (Chad) Vermeersch of Cloquet; grandchildren, Jakob, Teddi Jo, Levi, Blaine, Madi, Gracie, Nate, Emily, Brynn, Joshua and Vaunn; brother, Roy Jerde (Betty Kubis) of Saginaw; sisters, Betty Doble and Ruthann “Babe” Goad, both of Cloquet; sister-in-law, Joyce Jerde of Cloquet; and brother-in-law, Dick (Janet) Buczynski of Cloquet.
Visitation will be from 5 – 7 p.m. Monday, October 15, 2018 in Atkins-Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th Street, Cloquet. Visitation will continue from 10:00 until the 11:00 a.m. Funeral Service, Tuesday, October 16, 2018 in Atkins-Northland Funeral Home. Lunch will follow in the Fireside Room of the funeral home.
