Alvin Henry Wilcox, 84, of Laporte, MN died Monday, February 22, 2021 at the Sanford Bemidji Medical Center.Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am, Friday, February 26, 2021 at the Kabekona Community Church in Kabekona, MN. Visitation will be held from 5-7:00pm, Thursday, February 25, 2021, at the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at 12 Noon, Monday, March 1, 2021, at the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Pennock, MN under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home in Bemidji. He was born on January 28, 1937, in St. Paul, MN the son of Alva and Viola (Brackin) Wilcox. He was raised and educated in Guthrie, MN in a one room school house, he went on to attend and graduate from Bemidji High School in 1954. He enlisted in the US Air Force in 1957, serving at a RADAR facility in Willmar, MN, until he was Honorably Discharged in 1961. He married Ilene Hamann in Willmar, MN. He worked various construction jobs in Willmar, and at the Berquist Sign Company. He and his family moved to Maple Grove, MN where he continued to work construction and as a scale operator at a gravel pit. He started his own trucking company, Wilcox Contractors, and operated it until his retirement in 2013. He achieved an Associate’s Degree in Accounting in the 1970’s to help him manage the books. He was a member of the Lion’s Club of Osseo, MN, the American Legion Post #134 of Walker, and the Kabekona Community Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and riding his four wheeler. He was an avid reader, enjoying history, sci-fi, and was a master crossword enthusiast. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his: Son, Alan Wilcox of Laporte, MN, Grandchildren, Tristan Wilcox of Laporte, MN, Tamber Wilcox of Laporte, MN, Kennan Wilcox of Laporte, MN, Siblings, Mary Bahr of Connecticut, Warren Wilcox of Laporte, MN, Nieces, Nephews, and Grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Ilene Wilcox.
