Ruth M. Zweigle, age 89 of Lake Leelanau, formerly of Midland, died early Monday morning January 25, 2016 at Story Point Assisted Living in Midland. The daughter of the late Harry and Nora (Nye) Whipple was born in Merrill, Michigan on May 29, 1926. She was employed with Whipple Freight Co. then with Midland Moving & Storage for 15 years. Ruth then was employed with The Dow Chemical Co. until her retirement in 1983 after 32 years of service. She enjoyed doing needlework especially crocheting and embroidery, and working in the garden.
Surviving is here husband of 39 years Maurice L. Zweigle of whom she married in 1976; siblings, John (Gigi) Whipple of Northport, Michigan; Geri (Carl) Buchholz of Mt. Angle, Oregon, Keith Whipple of St. Louis, Michigan; nieces, Linda, Kari, Ann, Tina, Penny; nephews, Jim, Tom, C.J., Butchie; step son, Kean (Susan) Zweigle of Gaylord; step daughter, Leanne (Ralph) Mishler of Hickory Corners, Michigan; step grandchildren, Reuben, Abe; step great grandson, Mason. In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her daughter, Patsy Ann McCann; brothers, Robert, Ken, Myron Whipple; sisters, Dorothy Jezewski, Jane Whipple, Mildred Whipple, Jean Klinski.
Funeral and committal services will take place 11:00 a.m. Wednesday January 27, 2016 from Wilson MILLER Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Sawicki of Aldersgate United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Midland Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
