WINKEL, Christina Nov 27, 1924 – Nov 7, 2018

Christina M. Winkel, 93, Kokomo, passed away at 7:08 p.m. Wednesday, November 7, 2018, at Greystone Health and Rehabilitation in Ft Wayne. She was born November 27, 1924, in Elwood, the daughter of the late James K. & Ruby M. (Billheimer) Parker. On November 7, 1946, she married Gilbert G. “Gil” Winkel at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Kokomo, and he preceded her in death on September 2, 2005.
Christina was a 1943 graduate of Wendell Wilkey High School in Elwood, and a 1946 graduate of the Good Samaritan School of Nursing. She worked for St. Joseph Hospital from 1946-1956 as a registered nurse. She was a member of St. Patrick Church, and the Daughters of Isabella. Christina enjoyed oil painting, and ceramics. She was very active in her children's activities and her life revolved around her family.
Christina is survived by her daughters, Theresa (Gary) Anderson, Carmel, and Mary (Jerry) Cox, Ft. Wayne; grandchildren, Helen Perry, and Lauren M. Anderson; siblings, Joan (Robert) Sorg, Arkansas, and Richard (Judy) Parker, Elwood, along with several nieces and nephews.
Christina was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons, Joseph A. Winkel, and Gilbert G. Winkel; granddaughter, Christin M. Anderson; and brothers, James Parker, and Robert Parker.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday November 14, 2018, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1229 N. Washington Street, with Rev. Fr. Brian Dudzinski the celebrant. Private burial will follow in Albright Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made in Christina's memory to St. Patrick Church, or to the Monastery of the Poor Clares. Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory has been entrusted with arrangements.
