WILFONG, Lauretta Mar 20, 1935 – Aug 5, 2020

Lauretta M. Wilfong, 85, of Logansport, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2020, in Miller’s Merry Manor. Born March 20, 1935, in Logansport, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Ada Lucile (Grassmyer) Rude. On Feb. 7, 1954, in the Gospel Chapel, Logansport, she was married to Carroll E. Wilfong, who preceded her in death Feb. 28, 1999.
Lauretta was a 1953 graduate of Washington Township High School. She had worked as a teacher’s aide at Fairview for many years.
A member of the former Gospel Church, Lauretta was active in the Christian Women’s Club. She was also a member of the Hi-Neighbor Extension Homemakers Club. Lauretta kept active water-walking at the YMCA. With Carroll having worked as a bus driver, the two traveled together extensively and enjoyed many fun destinations. She loved playing the piano, but her best times were those spent in the company of her family and friends.
She is survived by two children, Corbin (Janice) Wilfong, Dayton, Indiana, and Lorraine (Ron) Goforth, Logansport; three siblings, Lawrence (Georgia) Rude, Williamsburg, Kentucky, Nancy S. Rude, Greencastle, and Sarah (Jerry) Spencer, Lafayette; sister-in-law, Nancy P. Rude, Michigan; three grandchildren, Carlos E. Wilfong, Joshua A. Goforth and Ashley Wilfong; and four great-grandchildren, Brennan Goforth, Madison Goforth, Viktor Wilfong, and Nevaeh Fisher.
In addition to her husband and parents, Lauretta was preceded in death by her brother, Francis M. “Frank” Rude.
Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, in Fisher Funeral Chapel.
A funeral service celebrating Lauretta’s life will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 9, in the funeral chapel, with Ralph Garver officiating.
Family graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 10, at Ever-Rest Memorial Park.
