RODKEY, Michael 'Mike' Jun 1, 1968 – Nov 8, 2021

Mike passed peacefully in his sleep at home on Nov. 8, 2021.
Mike was born on June 1, 1968, at St. Joe in Kokomo and adopted by Harold and Betty (Ridenour) Rodkey and his older sister, Melissa Ann, of Flora, Indiana.
Mike lived a wonderful life on a farm near Flora, Indiana. Days were filled with playing with Collies, kittens, sheep, pigs and cattle. There was a hoop on the barn, a creek for summer days of splashing, an apple orchard for climbing trees and a woods for exploring.
Mike was blessed with the best neighbors ever, who stepped in to be an important part of the village that supported and helped raise him when his father died when Mike was 9. He was loved and supported by those neighbors, cousins and members of Burlington United Methodist for the rest of his life. He was raised by a community and family that never doubted eternal salvation.
Mike was proud to be a Carrollton Cardinal and was a lifelong fan of the mighty and victorious Carroll Cougars. He still cheered for the Boilers but was increasingly rollin’ Tide. He loved the Bulls and the Colts but despised the Irsay’s as much as he despised Bobby Knight. He never gave up on the Cubs and lived long enough to see them win a series, despite a grim prognosis that was given again and again. Mike was a huge NASCAR fan and is probably currently chatting with Dale. Mike was also loved by his many coworkers at IPC, Kohl’s and Chrysler.
Mike was blessed with a large family. Through his long battle with cancer, he was lovingly attended by his longtime partner and the love of his life, Teresa Whitesell.
He was well loved by the family that waits to join him in Heaven, his son, Zachary Dalton; and two twin grandsons; sister, Melissa (Rodkey) and Gene Skalicky and their children; nephews, David Skalicky (Crystal, Aiden, Esme), Brandon Skalicky (Amanda, Myron), Andrew Skalicky (Rachel, Jackson, Calvin); and nieces, Olivia Skalicky Stephens (Kyle, Eleanor) and Corinne Skalicky. Teresa’s daughters, who he loved like his own, Helena Blackburn (Bridgett, Phoebe, Jordan and Jocelyn) and Kristi Blackburn Gamblin (Josh, Aiden).
He joins his parents, grandparents, and all the saints in continuous praise and glory.
The visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Nov. 13, 2021, at Sharon Baptist Church, 7012 E. 50 North, Flora, IN 46929. Graveside services will be at noon in Beech Grove Cemetery, next to the church, where Mike will be laid to rest with generations of family. The family requests visitors wear a mask while in the church.
In lieu of flowers, remember Mike with a donation to the Carroll County Special Olympics, 402 Roosevelt St., Flora, IN 46929, or to the maintenance fund at the Beech Grove Cemetery. Mike’s memory will always be our blessing.
